This pet is ready for a home, are you ready?

(Please read through this information, Application is at the end)

Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog rescued by Pet Angels Rescue Inc. Pet Angels wants to do our best to assure that every animal adopted goes to a loving home where the new owners will be committed to them & they will be well cared for, for the rest of their lives. Because of this, our application asks a number of questions which are necessary for us to do our best to achieve our goal.

These animals are not merchandise, rather, they are living creatures entrusted to our care, and they have been failed (at least) once by their previous caretakers for some reason or another to end up with us. It is our responsibility and mission to find the best possible homes for them and to meet the individual needs of each animal. Also, we want to make your choice to adopt as successful as possible by placing a pet that is suited for you to the best of our knowledge. All potential adopters are asked to fill out this form to start the process of possible adoption.

* The Adoption Fee helps us to cover the costs of some of the procedures for the animal while in our care including: age-appropriate vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, Heartworm test and treatment if necessary, Heartworm preventive started, De-Worming (it is suggested you repeat this process, consult your vet), Microchip ID with registration included, Flea and tick treatment (when needed), treatment/surgeries of any known treatable problem, collar and tags, as well as rehabilitation and recovery. (Some exceptions may apply)

Any donations over the stated adoption fees are greatly appreciated. Typically, we spend much more than the posted adoption fee for each animal in our care; donations help compensate for the extra cost.

Things to Consider before Adopting:

Remember when adopting a puppy that they take much more time for training and extra expenses for booster vaccines than an adult pet. Please consider your life schedule carefully before you make that decision. An adult dog is generally quicker to train and able to hold its bladder longer while you are at work. And if you value a good night’s sleep, a puppy is likely to disrupt that; same as babies, they may be up crying through the night.

All members of the household need to be informed that you plan to adopt.  All members of the family also need to be in agreement about when to adopt a pet, and which pet to adopt. If you are living with a friend or relative and you are not head of household, we will need approval from that person.

If you have a dog(s) at home, you will want to introduce your newly adopted pet on NEUTRAL territory from your existing dog(s). This is very important in the best interest of making your adoption as successful as possible. Your existing pet(s), meeting the new dog in its own home, may view the new dog as a threat or an intruder and the introduction may be a very bad experience. Regardless of your pet’s demeanor, this should always be done.  We want to make sure the transition for both dogs will be relatively smooth. This may take some planning to have extra hands when you arrive home with your new pet.

We prefer that applicants have a stable living situation. This is to make sure that owners have had time to settle into their new surroundings and have established a stable routine before bringing a pet into the home. Please remember if you are going through transitions in your own life, it is probably not a good time to adopt a pet.

If you have a cat or small animals in the home, be sure you have made previsions to keep the newly adopted pet separate from existing cats/small animals except when under supervision until you know/feel the animals can co-exist without harm.

In order to adopt an animal from Pet Angels Rescue, you must:
Be at least 21 years of age
Have a valid government/state issued photo ID
Be able to verify that you can have a pet where you live

We reserve the right to deny any adoption or suggest more suited animals.

Please allow up to one week for processing your application; you will receive an automated email response to confirm we have received it. If it is a weekend, please find us at an adoption event through our calendar where you may be able to do an on-site adoption; this form can be filled out in person at events.

All dogs are spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
