Please read through this information first. The application is at the end
The process for adoption is as simple as 1, 2, 3, if you don’t mind answering a lot of questions; this is a process to help us make the best possible match for this to be a successful adoption. Our goal is not quantity of adoptions but doing our best to give you a quality adoption experience.
1st step: Browse our adoptable pets on line and submit an application for the one you are interested in, be sure to include the pets Name NOT a ID #. You will get a notification that we have received your application.
2nd step: You should hear back from us within 72 hours Mon-Fri. On weekends we may be busy with adoption events and may not be able to respond to e-mails. To find out where we are check out our events calendar
3rd step: Set up a time to meet the pet, this time will generally be set up during our adoption events that are already scheduled on the weekends. If you have already submitted to adopt a pet and been approved we will hold that pet at the event until the time you scheduled to pick up within the event. Once you meet and choose to adopt the pet you will be going home with the pet unless other arrangements are made.
On-site adoptions at Adoption Outreaches: The process at events is, if you meet a pet you want to adopt, you will fill out the paperwork on location and if the pet is a good match with your family, you will go home with the pet from the event. Check out our events calendar to find us and visit the pets at the event, not all attend but generally we have 20 or more dogs to choose from.
Our Adoption Polices:
The animal must be spay/neutered prior to going to its new home.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
All animals are on a 14 day foster to adopt, if it doesn’t work out you can return the pet and medical records/ tags and your adoption fee is returned.
You will bring the animal back anytime in the future if you become unable to keep it, and not abandon it or turn into local shelter give away or sale. (In the event you have a friend/family that you wish to place your animal with please contact us first we have a solution for this that will allow you to do this under the contract and your friend/family will not be charge a fee)

Every dog has been micro-chipped by 24PetWatch , and also comes with 30 days of free 24PetWatch pet insurance.
Adoption fees as posted, these fees are to help re-coop some of the medical/care cost invested in the animals
We require for you to keep your dog on Heartworm prevention, if you are not familiar with this please read about it here. What is Heartworm Prevention why does a dog need it
We prefer to place our rescues in Oklahoma. I will not ship animals. Out of state adoptions are considered & handled on a case by case basis, and are not considered on highly adoptable animals. If you are out of state you can send a short email to see if we would consider placing the dog out of state.
We normally do a home inspection & require references, on special needs or bully breeds & exotics.
References are required; we will need landlord and vet contacts or your app. or it will not be processed.
Anyone renting or leasing must provide contact information from their landlord before an adoption can be approved. Any restrictions regarding type or size of animal must be noted.
We have a pretty open adoption policy–apartments, unfenced yards, young kids are okay, but only if the pet your are interested in is a good fit for that situation!!! Some dogs may require a fence of a certain type and height, due to breed or known history.
In making decisions about the placement of “our” animals, we are thinking not only of their welfare, but also of the well-being of the families who wish to adopt from us. We focus on making a good match between pets and owners, not simply making a sale, and sometimes means denying an adoption or requesting that families wait before adopting, or choose a different pet. If you are having a new baby, dealing with an older dogs health issues, or are expecting some other major transitions in the near future this not a good time to choose to adopt
We hope that you appreciate our efforts to provide quality care to the thousands of unwanted animals that find their way to Pet Angels Rescue each year, and understand that we can count on your support.
